The transition outlays

Thu Aug 06, 2009 15:34

Despite all our preparations, the transition to a new system and interface of Uploading.com didn't go smoothly at every instance. Currently there are still some unresolved technical problems, but we've already advanced considerably on the repair front.

This statistics, which you're currently able to see inside your accounts, are not normal for a new rates system. Starting at midnight the downloads from some of our servers were not counted, unfortunately. We're working on that and trying to resolve all problems as quickly as possible.

A number of errors that have emerged in the new interface as well will be eliminated.

With regard to the issues concerning administrative changes … we've tried our level best to minimize them, but they do exist. And though they are rarely perceived negatively, this is still a contentious issue for some. Still we will move ahead and meet every challengeto fulfill your wishes.

Launch of a new version!

Thu Aug 06, 2009 00:00

Dear partners!

Welcome to the new version of the file-hosting service and affiliate program Uploading.com!

What you’re currently seeing on Uploading.com is not a completely new engine, but merely the first phase in our endeavor to ensure stability. Because we aren’t just satisfied with “good”, the transition process leading to this phase did not occur as fast as we would have liked. But it’s an extremely great start nonetheless. It’s certainly a clear indicator that we’re on the right track. Subsequent phases should also be ready soon, though within the first phase many improvements have already been implemented.

We began with the changes in the rates table. It’s a completely new system in which the level of payment depends upon two parameters: the size of the files and the status of the account. The status, of course, is determined by the efficiency and activity of a single partner.

We didn’t raise the minimum paid size for the files, and the first plan begins with 1 Mb. As you know, 1 Mb is above average in the market of file hosting services. The account status is set into the second stage (the "Base" status) by default and, for the majority of partners, it immediately increases because switching into the "Power" status requires little effort. Also, we are so bold as to assure you that the lower "Light" status will be used only in very rare cases. Thus, contrary to the first announcement of the change in the rates system, we continue to pay for the downloads from non-unique IP addresses. Along with this, we’ll begin a new rates system that includes paying for downloads from 36 countries, and we most certainly intend to gradually add new ones.

The mechanism built into the new rates system is setting the partners' account statuses automatically - counting it again and again at the end of each week. Thus, for example, productive work in the first week of the month will earn the partner a higher rates status. This status will operate for all of the following week. The only exception is at the time of the launch. Despite the fact that most of our partners can see that they're currently at the second stage of the status of "Base", we’ll review all accounts and set a more appropriate (higher) status manually in the coming days.

We’re well aware that you’ve come to taste the new and improved design of our site. Of course this interface is far more streamlined for work, especially when file uploads work as expected and payments are processed in the shortest possible time.

Many of you have noticed that, in the week preceding the launch of an updated version, our servers brought us regularly, partially impeded the introduction of improvements. At the moment all the technical problems are resolved and, moreover, more powerful servers, with plenty of capacity to ensure stability, have been added to our network.

There have been no changes to the previously existing system of payments. Basic rules and terms for the payments remain the same. We recognize that there are delays with checking and processing the payout requests, and we strongly advise and ask for your patience. Delays in processing requests from 3 to 7 days are possible, but we make every effort to resolve it quickly. And, yes, we still abide by the rule for which audited and trusted partners receive their payments much faster, generally within three days. While in the near future we will try to compensate for this by additional resources to check traffic.

With this new version we suggest that you take advantage of the new ticket system that will greatly expedite the handling of questions from partners and customers. Previously used e-mail addresses will continue to be supported, but soon they will be phased out in favor of the ticket system. The number of managers responsible for support will also increase soon.

These are the major changes that we have produced to date. Next on the agenda is the final update of the entire engine in addition to work on new, useful tools necessary for productive work. (Download via FTP is also a top priority).

Best regards,
Alex Uploading.com

Long-awaited transition to improvements

Wed Aug 05, 2009 19:56

Good news, everyone!

The long-awaited time of rejuvenation is upon us! At midnight on the server time (GMT +1) the transition into a new rates system will be made in addition to the launch of a completely new version of the Uploading.com interface.

Much time and effort has been invested into conducting the necessary tests, leaving us no doubt that everything will go smoothly. Still we will remain vigilant and we’ll closely monitor the process of this transition every step of the way. (Please note that the old statistics for prior periods will be maintained and available.)

We truly hope that you’ll appreciate our efforts. And we in turn will do our level best to keep you more than satisfied with the stable work, high income and timely payments.

For more information on the update and all that accompanies it, read this blog after midnight.

See you in Uploading.com’s new era of development!

Preparing for the transition into a new rates system

Sun Jul 12, 2009 09:56

As mentioned earlier, we are going to replace the current system of rates to one that is more modern and advanced in it’s efficiency. We’ve begun this process immediately. Today we’ll delve into the preparatory phase of the transition.

First, the new system will not add the balance for sales, but this should be fully compensated by the rates. The new rates will be set primarily in accordance with the ratio of sales as well as several other parameters. Note that this does not mean that this will not be possible without the sales income.

As you may have guessed, we are about to introduce the system which may be familiar to some partners; where the rates are determined by the status of the account. The base status, which would be set for everyone by default, won’t be less than the average rates currently used on Uploading.com. And, for the most active partners, status will be immediately upgraded up to 1 or even 2 levels (total we have planned 4 levels of status).

Separate rates will also be introduced by file sizes. Within these new rates we intend to increase the maximum possible payment for 1000 unique downloads. In addition to this, we are going to expand the list of paid countries.

We already have the approximate rates, but we can’t publish them at the moment. Over the weekend we are going to test a new system and implement it around the middle of next week.

Until Monday, some errors may become evident in the statistics, but all stats are stored and maintained in a separate script. We’ve had to disable the calculation of sales to make possible this transition into the new system.

We apologize for inconveniences. Be certain that it is not an easy time for us, for we currently have to act very quickly in regards to difficult situations. All the taken and planned measures are being weighed and, ultimately, should ensure so long-awaited stability for everyone. We are doing everything possible to overcome this difficult period as quickly as possible in order to reach a new level. We ask for your understanding.

Thank you,
Alex Uploading.com

Comments on "cleaning the rows"

Sat Jul 11, 2009 23:01

We believe it is necessary to clarify a few points about the filter that was performed on the 9th of July.

First off, this filter has been engaged only once, and we will not employ the use of such measures in the future. From this moment on, even in the case of violations corresponding to the filter's criteria, we'll only reduce the measures by calling it to the attention to a partner, and only in very rare cases (explicit cheating) will the measures extend beyond that.

For those accounts for which we didn't send notices and/or whose access is working, we don’t have, nor should we have, any claims.

Unfortunately we have found solitary cases in which the filter didn't work correctly. Accounts of these partners have been restored, and apologies to the owners were made.

In a few of individual cases, we have decided to soften a decision to close the account, but several additional conditions apply. The owners of these accounts have already been notified.

Also, despite some negative dialogue, there were some accounts that were very effective for us amongst those that had been closed. So the main criterion here was not financial, but a question of maintaining the image of the legal service. And of course, the issue of compliance to regulations.

Moreover, we are ready to consider the controversial questions concerning the filter. If you have yet to receive answers to your questions, you most likely have a strong case to appeal against our decision. Email us at manager - @ - uploading.com.

Regards,
Alex Uploading.com

Cleaning our rows – fighting cheaters!

Thu Jul 09, 2009 16:14

While we were forced to solve administrative and personnel issues, a number of our uploaders took advantage of the situation and found ways of cheating our system. And for some reason some of them also forgot the current terms of service on Uploading.com.

It is time to end the reign of permissiveness. Before things can be dramatically changed for the better, we have to go through the process of cleaning house, and that means cleaning accounts. We manually checked all the partners and, along with common cheating, several cases of file-hosting rule violations were revealed. Violations that the previous management often turned a blind eye to.

These measures, as well as the reinforcement of abidance of the rules, do not reflect on webmasters who work legally. Among the many hundreds of active partners, less than one percent of accounts fell under the filter.

A more detailed review of all cases:

1. The use of scripts for cheating with bots for downloads through proxy servers. Here we must acknowledge that the old engine of Uploading.com was not equipped to identify cases of cheating in these instances, particularly when the downloads were not fully artificially generated. So sometimes actions like this went unnoticed. What’s so silly about all of this is that, to accurately pull off a cheat of this sort, it takes a lot of effort. More effort than it would take to put in an honest days work!

2. A breakdown of the archives at the tiny parts. This is not the case when, for example, a file size of 600 Mb is divided into 6 archives of 100 Mb. But if the file size 50 Mb split by at dozens of archives of about 1 Mb - this is unacceptable. It is obviously the result of someone working dishonestly and showing a blatant disregard towards users.

3. We’ve tightened the rules concerning the placement of cracked software, serial numbers and programs for various illegal activities. The same applies to the placement of stolen accesses to membership sites. All these things are unacceptable.

4. Under the filter that we’ve placed go accounts in which more than 30% of files are banned for complaints of rightholders. Usually this not only reveals the improper placement of the files, but it’s also non-receptive to the use of methods that attract users.

5. While checking the files we've tightned our censorship standards. Accounts with files filled with extreme or violent content will be closed. This is the only way in which we can comply with U.S. law.

As you can see, these rules are more than justified by common sense and do not represent any threat for legal files owners.

This filter is now in effect. All offenders have been notified by e-mail.

News of a new team for the second half of June 2009

Thu Jul 09, 2009 12:53

It's a common fact that the most daring initiatives endure the bureaucracy when they're first implemented. It has happened with our ambitious plans for a fast renewal of Uploading.com engine. A number of administrative and personnel issues not only prevented our team from working under the new technical system, they also set us back a bit.

We must extend our deepest apologies because, for the last two weeks, we failed to report the current news of the project. This was due to some controversial management issues and the uncertainty that resulted from it to some extent. At the moment all of these issues have been resolved once and for all. The powers of the new team members are defined and distributed. Now nothing prevents us from getting right down to business.

In this context, starting with the first announcement of an impending update of the engine, we had our hands metaphorically tied and were physically unable to begin the work. Moreover, immediately after the announcement, we noticed previously unidentified number of technical features from the old engine. This also complicated the transition to the new version.

So, the changes and updates will be somewhat slower than originally planned. And with more distributed phases. But the good news is that the changes now will start implementing immediately. Visually - from the next week. We'll begin with a renewal of general interface and design in addition to system fixes and improvements.

Best Regards,
Alex Uploading.com

Opening a blog on sharemasters.com

Wed Jul 08, 2009 01:44

Dear partners, at present we view the model of the blog as being the best and the easiest means to post all news and changes taking place in the Uploading.com service. This aim was, of course, the top priority of the old forum that had been previously hosted on this domain. But recently that forum was too often used for other purposes, so we’ve decided to fix that.

This blog will partially solve the main goal of the forum. Here we’ll write in detail about all the challenges and events on the Uploading.com service--things that are definitely worth your attention. Also the new online ticket system that will soon be introduced on Uploading.com should solve the second important goal. More on this later.

We have temporarily closed the archive of the old forum, but we won’t completely exclude the forum model. We have plans to make this site a multi-functional community to communicate, share experiences and give proper support to partners. Not only for ourselves, but for other major file hosting services as well.

Comments on this blog are temporarily unavailable. Soon we’ll add this feature and move into the blog script all existing accounts from the old forum.

Please be patient! Soon everything, and much more, will be revealed to you!

Best regards,
Uploading.com New Team
